This is track 8 from the soundtrack I composed for the film called Birdtown. It features some exquisite violin playing by Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Violinist Andrea Keeble. Messiaen is an influence on my composition specifically his Modes of Limited Transposition and use of the upper partials to create a feeling of flight or spirit. Definitely what I was aiming for with the string arrangements. The soundtrack is mostly string percussion, found sound, some ocilator manipulation and a tiny bit of brass. I'd love to know what people think. more

Track 8 from the soundtrack I composed to the film Birdtown. The rough woody viola has a flighty violin encircling it while the bass and horns surround it with open chords. It shifts to a heavy repeated rising chordal motive at about the 4-minute mark with percussion splattering and rupturing all over it as the film moved to a strange point. Wit for the solo violin and viola sliding in the style of Penderecki - Hope you dig it. Stravinskis String quartets influenced me somewhere in there. more
